Students at the UC Davis CLEAR Center Amass Numerous Scholarships and Awards
The UC Davis CLEAR Center is thrilled to announce the remarkable achievements of our graduate students who have been at the forefront of our recent successes, receiving numerous scholarships and awards. A huge congratulations to Alice Rocha, Sebastian E. Mejia Turcios, and Matthew Klein on the completion of their PhD, and to Madison Kindberg on the completion of her MS. In tandem with earning their degrees, Alice Rocha was honored with the Brownell Fellowship, International Livestock Congress Student Fellow, Lallemande Forward, CA ARPAS Memorial Scholarship, Jessup Fellowship, and the NRST Fellowship. Sebastian E. Mejia Turcios was awarded the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists Scholarship, multiple National and California Cattlemen’s Association Scholarships, the Frank G. Rue Memorial Award, and the International Livestock Congress Fellowship.
In addition to, current PhD candidate, Sharissa Anderson was honored with the California Glenn-Colusa Cattlemen and Women’s Award as well as the Frank G. Rue and James Delfino Scholarship Awards. PhD candidate, Conor McCabe received the DCHA, AgCareers, and Dairy Farmers of America Scholarship as well as placing third in the California Animal Nutrition Conference Poster Competition, and first in the World Prize Graduate Student Competition. He also earned the Neal Van Alfen and James McDonald Graduate Student Award and participated in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Sustainable Livestock Transformation Global Youth Dialogue. Joining the CLEAR Center more recently, PhD candidate, Alexis Wivell was awarded the CGFA Foundation Scholarship and was the recipient of the Frank G. Rue Memorial Award.
We could not be prouder of our students’ achievements, which reflects the exceptional talent, hard work and commitment pooled here in the Department of Animal Science at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, UC Davis.
